I’m Thomas, owner of Hoo’s Handy, serving Greene, Albemarle & Madison counties. I focus on small repairs, Installs, and punch-list work done safely and professionally.
Our Mission
Handyman work is more than repairs — it’s service to people. My mission is to give homeowners dependable, high-quality work rooted in integrity, safety, and respect. I believe in showing up when I say I will, charging what I quoted, and workmanship that never cuts corners — because trust isn’t built with words, it’s built with consistency. I have a heart for those who may feel overlooked or vulnerable — the elderly, special needs families, and households facing hardship, loss, or transition. I know that inviting someone into your home requires real trust, and I take that seriously through transparency, patience, and keeping you informed every step of the way. My goal isn’t just to fix things. It’s to leave your home safer, your family more at ease, and to be the kind of person your neighborhood is better for having around. As Hoos Handy grows, my hope is to build a company — and a family legacy — where every person on this team is held to that same standard of service, compassion, and integrity. That’s not a slogan. That’s just how I was raised to work.

Hoo’s Handy Community Giving Policy
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”— Ephesians 2:10
Why This Exists.
Hoo’s Handy was built on a simple belief — that skilled hands are meant to serve people, not just earn a living.
Charging fair market rates isn’t about profit for its own sake. It’s about building something sustainable enough to show up for people who need help the most and can’t always pay for it.This is that commitment in writing.
Who We Serve
Hoo’s Handy will provide free or significantly reduced services to individuals and families facing genuine unexpected hardship.
This includes but is not limited to:
🙏 Widows or widowers navigating home repairs alone for the first time after losing a spouse
🙏 Families experiencing sudden loss or crisis who reach out needing immediate help
🙏 Elderly individuals with no family nearby to assist with essential repairs
🙏 Survivors of domestic violence transitioning into new living situations
🙏 Special needs families facing accessibility or safety related repairs
How It Works
There is no formal application. No hoops to jump through. No proof of hardship required. If you feel led to reach out — reach out. A simple message explaining your situation is enough. We will never interrogate your circumstances or make you feel small for asking.
We partner with organizations like the Shelter for Help in Emergency and local churches who can help connect needs to our services. If your church, pastor, or organization is aware of someone who needs help — we welcome that referral.
And to those who wonder if people might take advantage of this policy — our answer is simple. That’s between them and God. We are only responsible for doing what we were called to do. We’d rather help a hundred people and be wrong about ten than miss the one who genuinely needed us.
How Often We Give Back
We are a small weekend operation run by one person with a family and a full time job. We cannot help everyone at once. But when the need is clear and the timing allows — we will show up. No fanfare. No social media post required. Just the work.
Occasionally my wife sees what I miss. She is my compass for who needs help when my focus is locked on the job in front of me. Between the two of us — we pay attention.
A Note on Faith
This policy isn’t a marketing strategy. It isn’t a tax write off. It’s an acknowledgment that every skill I have was given to me for a reason — and that reason is bigger than my schedule or my bottom line.
Hoo’s Handy exists because God prepared this work in advance. We’re just trying to show up for it faithfully. If you or someone you know needs help — reach out. The worst we can say is not right now.And we’ll mean it kindly when we do. 🙏
