Drywall Edge Repair to Rehang a Bi-fold Door

A client contacted me after the bi-fold door bracket failed and the door became inoperable. Upon assessment it was discovered that the original installation had been done incorrectly – the bracket had been secured with a half inch screw that never reached the wall framing behind it. This fundamental error made failure inevitable from day one.
Rather than applying a temporary fix that would have failed again, Hoo’s Handy performed a proper repair. The damaged drywall was cut out cleanly, a new patch was installed and secured directly into the existing wall framing, corner bead was applied to protect the edge, and the surface was finished with two coats of joint compound and primer so the client could paint to match the wall. The bracket was then remounted with appropriate fasteners driven into solid framing where it should have been from the start.
The door now operates smoothly with no binding and the repair is built to last.
